In Aerial Work Platforms (AWPs) and Cranes there is the
need to keep the operator basket or platform always horizontal

These platforms can reach heights of up to 100 meters
and may become unstable and tip over, especially if used on uneven ground, overloaded, or exposed to high winds.

The most significant risk for the operator is free falling, which can result in serious injuries or fatalities. Mechanical or centralized hydraulic leveling solutions are not always feasible or convenient, especially in specific enivronments or with extra long booms.

A compact Smart Hydraulic Power Unit, such as Hydronit SPU, is mounted directly on the operator platform or basket, even if this is very far from the crane frame, and is autonomous from the base machine since it includes its own leveling sensor (normally SIL2 certified) and fluid power generation.

An AC supply requires only a small section wire to bring the necessary electrical power to the power unit, instead of heavy and expensive hydraulic hoses or pipes. The power unit itself can be certified SIL2 for safety. The control is provided through CAN bus connection.
